the future of love — romance books to look forward to in 2025

Somehow, it is November already and this means that the leaves are getting crunchier, the days are getting shorter, the air is getting colder, and 2025 is getting closer. The thought of a new year is daunting; there’s a strange sort of pressure to change yourself or start something fresh and this can feel overwhelming. So, let’s focus on some positives. Here are some romance books hitting the shelves in 2025 for you to add to your TBR for the upcoming year.

Here’s to a year full of love stories.

Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry

It only feels right to start with an upcoming release from the queen of romance herself, Miss Emily Henry. There have been rumours surrounding her sixth novel for a while, with fans claiming to have found easter eggs within her newsletter uploads on her website for a few months now — safe to say, their suspicions were correct. Great Big Beautiful Life is set to release on the 22nd of April and is a classic Em Hen love story complete with a picturesque vacation backdrop and complex family dynamics. There is said to be a mystery element alongside the romance that we all know and love, and most excitingly, Emily Henry was inspired by Taylor Swift’s Last Great American Dynasty from Folklore during the writing process. April can’t come soon enough.

Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid

After taking a break following the release of Carrie Soto is Back in 2022, Taylor Jenkins Reid is back with the announcement of her new novel, Atmosphere. Releasing on the 5th of June and set in the 1980s, it follows Joan Goodwin — an NASA astronaut who is stationed on Earth in Houston with the job of staying in constant communication with her team up in space. The twist? The love of her life is in that rocket. When faced with a life or death situation, Joan must figure things out to save the man she loves. This is a true high stakes romance. As can be expected from Taylor Jenkins Reid, she has spoken about how much research she has done into space and everything that space travel involves, so rest assured we are in for an emotional, action-packed storyline in Spring.

Deep End by Ali Hazelwood

Ali Hazelwood is THE author for STEM romances. From The Love Hypothesis to Love on the brain, she has singlehandedly made the reading community fall in love with both her characters and their passion for science. And you’ll be happy to know that her new novel, Deep End, is keeping with the academic theme but this time it’s a college sports romance! The plot follows two student-athletes — a platform diver and the swim team captain — as their distracting romantic feelings battle with their lifelong dreams to make it professionally in their fields. Due to hit shelves on February the 4th, it’s not long until we can jump straight into the Deep End.

Say You’ll Remember Me by Abby Jimenez

Standing in a nice dress? Staring at the sunset? Mark your calendars for april 1st (this is not a joke, I promise you) because there’s a new Abby Jimenez on the way! Say You’ll Remember Me follows Samantha — who readers have actually met before in Just For The Summer when Emma and Justin helped her find her mother — and veterinarian, Xavier. After having the best first date in history, the pair are forced to go their separate ways after the realities of real life and complex family dynamics get in the way. Samantha just has one ask of Xavier; she wants him to always remember her and the night they shared together. But are the memories enough or do they both want more? Find out in April.

Sounds Like Love By Ashley Poston

Rockstar romances are a tried and true fan favourite, so imagine that trope combined with Ashley Poston’s magical writing and you’ve got her upcoming release Sounds Like Love. This love story is between a musician and a songwriter who both find themselves in the thick of a creative block, unable to express themselves artistically like they once could. However, the one thing that can inspire them is each other and the telepathic connection they share — you can always rely on Ashley Poston for some first class magic realism. But there’s just one small issue, they don’t want to be connected to each other in this way. If anything, they despise the inexplicable pull that they feel. Stay tuned for June the 17th to find out if they can learn to work together for the sake of their careers. Who knows, maybe it will be fun!
